10TH RALLY EDITION: OCTOBER 8 – 18, 2025

#120

Team Uff da!

Mandy Blumer from Wisconsin. Tanya Wayne from North Dakota. Friends and colleagues with over 25 years combined living in the Pacific Northwest secondary to the wanderlust within.

We are both Physician Assistants and met while working at an urgent care in Portland, OR. When you are from the Midwest and meet another person from the Midwest, you “just know”. We both have a love for medicine, sports, outdoors, camping, overlanding, paranormal things, whiskey, cigars and Midwestern slang-“you betcha”. In time we learned to embrace the glorious mess that we are and accepted that no-one will ever be as entertained by us than us.

Fun Fact:

I was at Prince's nightclub in Minneapolis in the mid '90s and was invited to his recording studio by men in velvet sport coats. Prince was DJ'ing at Paisley Park, trying to see how the crowd was responding to some new songs he was working on. We ended up meeting Prince later that night and partied like it was 1999!

Why the Rebelle? Why now?

Mandy and I met at a haunted pub in Portland, OR, on Halloween 2020. She told me about the Rebelle Rally and I was immediately sold on the idea. With Covid at its peak we decided to shoot for 2022 as our Rookie Rebelle year. I am always up for a challenge, especially one that is filled with adventure, grit, and learning new skills.

Who, or what, inspires you most?

I am inspired by those who have been through hell, burned to the ground and come back unapologetically breathing. They are reborn with wisdom and strength, changed, but not reduced by all that has happened.

Greatest adventure to date?

Traveling to Cuba in 2015 and having the opportunity to stay with a couple named Ford and Mercedes. I saw the touristy side of Cuba: salsa dancing and live music, classic cars, and enjoyed Cuban Rum and cigars. But I also learned about the other side of Cuba, the side that is starving, crumbling and full of economic and political restrictions. It was an adventure that gave me a new level of respect and ethical awareness of the Cuban culture.

Why the Rebelle? Why now?

I discovered the Rebelle Rally in 2019 right before the Pandemic hit. As a healthcare provider, for me, Pandemic meant I was in the thick of it and not going to be able to take time off. As 2021 rolled around and Covid was becoming a daily task, I was able to act on my dreams. Rebelle gives me the chance to test myself, to feel alive, to learn new skills, to build community.

Who, or what, inspires you most?

Folks who live authentically and care for the world around them.
