10TH RALLY EDITION: OCTOBER 8 – 18, 2025

#150

Team G.O.A.T.

Shelby and Penny met during the crazy times of COVID in 2020, over FaceTime. When Ford decided to compete in the Rebelle Rally, Shelby and Penny had only 6 weeks to prepare 3 teams for 8 days in the wild. It was the ultimate test of their newfound team! It was a huge success. Not only did they work together as an incredible team, but they have also become the best of friends.

After securing the first victory for Ford in the New Generation Bronco, seasoned off-road veterans and 2020’s X-Cross class champions Hall (driver) and Dale (navigator) returned to claim 4th place at the 2021 Rebelle Rally in the 4×4 class. This year they return to compete again in the 4×4 class with the 2021 2-door Bronco Wildtrak.

Hall’s off-road experience is vast but some of her favorite moments include racing side-by-sides, as well as her grandfather’s legendary first-generation Bronco – the only 4-wheel drive vehicle to ever win the Baja 1000 overall.

Shelby joined the Bronco R race team at the 2019 and 2020 Baja 1000 races, and has continued working with Ford becoming a consultant for female based training programs, is a Bronco Brand Ambassador, and is an off-road driving coach.

Riding with her in the navigator’s seat will be Dale, a seasoned off-road driver who once navigated nearly 28,000 miles from Vancouver, Canada to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina during a year-long Pan-American overland expedition. When she isn’t adventuring, Dale is the creative director of her interior design firm, Penny Dale Design Studio.

Favorite Quote:

“A wise girl knows her limits, a smart girl knows that she has none.” Marilyn Monroe

Fun Fact:

Although I was raised in a family of professional off-road drivers, I did not take the drivers seat in a race until 2012, at the age of 23. My grandpa treated me like any other team member - I had to earn my seat in the race truck.

Why the Rebelle? Why now?

Each year I compete in the Rebelle, I learn something new about myself; I create a new connection; I become a deeper woman. Beyond the inner winnings - I am also a fierce competitor! Penny and I were so close to reaching the podium last year, but alas, made a few too many errors. 2022 is our third year as a team, and we have worked our tails off to learn from our mistakes and come back with our heads held high, ready for a strong navigational battle!

Who, or what, inspires you most?

Life! Life inspires me the most. I went through a time in my life where I didn't have much inspiration and didn't have a clear path, but I leaned in, surrounded myself with amazing people and found my true passion. I wake up everyday with motivation to the best person I can be, continue learning, reach for the stars and make my dreams a reality!

Greatest adventure to date?

Joining the 2019 Ford Bronco race team. I was the only female on a star-studded team of long-time, off road racing legends. It was a whirlwind and dream come true, as I felt like Cinderella: a regular girl getting to go to the ball (Baja 1000) with Mr. Prince Charming (factory team Ford). Flying all over the place, filming commercials, giving interviews, staying in fancy hotels, and driving alongside the legends was quite the adventure! I was sure to soak it all in.

Favorite Quote:

“It's a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you're ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now. And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any.”

Fun Fact:

My personal mantra is “say yes” - the rest is figure-out-able.

Why the Rebelle? Why now?

This will be my fifth year competing in the Rebelle Rally. Every year is incredible and distinct; it’s so much fun reconnecting with lifelong friends and fellow competitors made over the years, sharing meals and the stories of the day. I also always look forward to seeing what the rally reveals to me. Each year I learn new lessons about myself that make me a more resilient, resourceful and thoughtful human.

Who, or what, inspires you most?

My parents. They always hoped I would live a full and adventurous life and I strive to do so.
