Kris and Andrea met in 2017 during the Rebelle Rally. Over the years their paths have crossed at checkpoints, until 2021 when they decided to team up together! Kris is a Vancouver, Washington-based businesswoman and photographer. Currently, CEO of ICD High Performance Coatings, Kris oversees a fantastic company which creates and manufacturers “green” coatings for the construction and automotive markets. Kris has been a photographer for over twenty years, focusing on landscape and architecture for commercial use. In the last few years, Kris has focused her photography work in long exposure and fire art, with a great focus on sharpening her personal vision and how to express it further. Kris has won several international photo awards, most recently, third place in architecture at Prix de la Photographie (Px3) with her series “Chicago – My Gotham.” Andrea Shaffer lives in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she has lived since she was 3. She is a mom to 3 kids, 2 boys and a girl. Andrea enjoys bowling, camping and off-roading with her family. Some of her favorite adventures have been her trips to Moab, the Rubicon and Colorado. As an Original Rebelle, this year will be Andrea’s 7th time competing in the Rebelle Rally. Kris and Andrea are excited to come back together for their third time in 2023!

"We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are." ~Talmud
My guilty pleasure is apocalyptic zombie novels.
That first rally in 2017 started as just an offroad and navigation event to me, something hard to do that I had wanted to do. The rally has continued to be that world-class competition, but within a few days of that first start in 2017, I knew it would be much more. Today, it’s a competition to strive to improve and win, but for me, the secondary effects matter most. The rally is a crucible moment, a stressful and challenging thing to do but what springs forward is intense personal growth. The experiences include overcoming significant challenges, endurance, perseverance, grit, and learning to be a better teammate, all in a brief period of time. These growth areas make me a better mother, CEO, child, and person of the world. Some take a vacation and climb a mountain, I Rebelle.
The “underdog” in general inspires me the most, never quitting and having grit. Striving and failing, knowing that is part of the cycle, but having the perseverance to cross the finish line.

Pineapple is my favorite pizza topping.
The better question is why not the Rebelle? This year will be my 6th time competing, always as a navigator, and the things I learn and experience each year help mold me into a better person.
