#130 – MD Explorers

MDexplorers is still in its infancy stage. We formed this company in January 2021 solely because we joined the Rebelle Rally in December 2020. How we found the rally and our cause for joining is a long story, albeit a very personal and interesting one. So I (Mea) was turning 50 in the middle of the pandemic. I had made plans of traveling to the Philippines to celebrate with childhood friends and extended family through a series of holidays and get togethers. Then Covid happened and all those plans had to be postponed, and ultimately got cancelled. We had an inkling, a sort of longing to celebrate this milestone in my life and Bebs and I kept coming up short on what other plans we could make. I wanted nothing short of an adventure to celebrate the journey that made me who I am today. How I found out about the rally was very serendipitous. I was looking at other people’s bucketlists online late one night, hoping to find my own adventure to celebrate my milestone. Then I recalled a conversation I recently had with a childhood friend who greeted me happy birthday. He had mentioned his hobby of overlanding and camping and exploring outdoors and it sparked my curiousity. One google search led to another, and I had stumbled upon the Rebelle Rally. It was like a lightbulb had clicked on and I couldn’t keep it to myself that I had to wake up Bebs in the middle of the night and I kept saying “THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO DO FOR MY BIRTHDAY” Bebs: I was half asleep and a sleepy daze when she told me so I just said yes. I couldn’t believe what I had agreed to but I had promised to be her supportive partner no matter what HAHAHA. But we have no regrets, this has been test of our patience and our creativity and it had brought us together as a team.
