10TH RALLY EDITION: OCTOBER 8 – 18, 2025

#144

CanToy Divas

Sue and I met 10 years ago when we both joined a local chapter of Sweet Adelines International (women’s barbershop singing organization) and we have been singing together and friends ever since. While rehearsing for a quartet competition in 2018, I told Sue about the Rebelle Rally, meeting Emily Miller at BCOR, and how I would love to compete. Sue mentioned that she had done some navigating with her husband on driving vacations and would be interested in partnering up.

We competed together in the both the 2020 and 2021 Rebelle Rally and were awarded the International Cup both years. This year is special to us as we will be running the rally in memory of Adam Michael O’Brien. He was tragically struck and killed by a vehicle while walking home in the evening of Nov 25th 2022. Adam and his family were avid fans and followers of both the CanToy Divas and the Rebelle Rally.

Favorite Quote:

"We are not curing cancer here" Emily Miller. This has helped me keep things in perspective... It was a hard choice between this and "But did you die"

Fun Fact:

I am a grandma of 4, 3 amazing grandsons and one beautiful and spicy granddaughter who was born during the first Rebelle in 2020.

Why the Rebelle? Why now?

The Rebelle is more than a competition to me, it is a family and I look forward to competing with and coming home to every year. The Rebelle is an opportunity for me to unplug and challenge myself to grow. To strip away all of the distractions of life and focus inward.

Who, or what, inspires you most?

My Mother, Maggie Maschke. She taught me to love unconditionally and be a good wife, mother and grandmother. Her strength, humility and positive outlook on life is awe inspiring. In June she survived a hemorrhagic stroke and she has never given up or wallowed in self pitty. Her perseverance and hard work has paid off and she is mostly recovered now. Thank you mom you are an incredible inspiration to me. I love you

Why the Rebelle? Why now?

After the first 2 Rebelles, I feel like I’m finally understanding the game. This year is extra special as we are competing in Adam O’Briens name; a young man who was killed while walking home one evening by a car.

Who, or what, inspires you most?

My mom still inspires me to be the best person I can be. I carry her love with me and always remember her selfless, humble, strong, & kind way of being.
