Rebelle Rally Celebrates Five Years With Iridium as Official Safety and Communications Partner

As we prepare for the ninth edition of the Rebelle Rally, we are excited to announce that Iridium Communications will return for the fifth consecutive year as our trusted Safety and Communications Partner. Their continued commitment to the Rebelle Rally has been instrumental in ensuring the safety and success of our event, especially as we venture into the most remote corners of the American West.

In addition to communications and tracking, the Rebelle Rally has developed an innovative, integrated scoring system that sends data to the online, automated pages, eliminating human error and hours of delayed scoring updates, utilizing Iridium-enabled devices.

Iridium’s Role at the Rebelle Rally

The Rebelle Rally spans over 2,500 kilometers of challenging terrain, and our reliance on Iridium’s technology is as strong as ever. Here’s how Iridium supports the rally:

  • Iridium Extreme PTT & IC-SAT 100 Push-to-Talk Radios: These Iridium-enabled radios are the communication lifeline for course officials and search and rescue teams, providing clear and reliable voice communications even in the most remote areas.

  • Iridium 9555 Satellite Phones: Competitors carry these phones for emergencies, ensuring they can reach support teams at any time, regardless of location.

  • YB Tracking: Every vehicle in the rally is equipped with a YB vehicle mounted tracker, which uses Iridium’s network to provide real-time vehicle tracking, and now the scoring of on-time enduro challenges.

  • Checkpoint Signaling: Competitors signal their progress using a handheld YB device that seamlessly integrates with our real-time scoring system even in the most remote locations on course with Iridium’s robust satellite network.

Throughout the year, Rebelle founder Emily Miller, Course Director Jimmy Lewis and course staff don’t leave connectivity without an Iridium-connected device with tracking and SOS capability – from Roadpost’s Zoleo to the Garmin InReach, both reliant on Iridium service.

Last year, they doubled down by entering two teams, showcasing their deep connection to the event and the capabilities of their products in the field. Chief Operating Officer, Suzi McBride, has competed three times, underscoring the importance Iridium places on understanding and demonstrating the real-world applications of their technology.
