With the recent success of our Women Who Rebelle Empowered by Iridium session this month, we thought it would be the perfect time to highlight Iridium as our latest Behind the Brand feature. And as luck would have it, we got the chance to sit down with Iridium COO and 3x Rebelle Suzi McBride to delve into her fascinating journey from coding in Cobol to spearheading operations at a major satellite communications company. Suzi shares insights on her pivot into a space career, her passion for mentoring in STEM, and the profound impact of Iridium’s technology in extreme conditions.
Discover how Suzi’s leadership at Iridium and her experiences in the Rebelle Rally exemplify the spirit of innovation and resilience.
In this month’s spotlight, we introduce Team Heading and Distance (Team #138), where Laura Moore and Holly Casey, two seasoned competitors in the Rebelle Rally, embody the essence of lifelong learning and spirited adventure. This dynamic duo, known affectionately as “The Badass Grandmas,” share more than just a knack for navigation and driving; they bring a rich tapestry (literally – Holly is a retired long arm quilter!) of life experiences and a love for family that fuels their competition. Dive into their story and discover how these two Rebelles prepare for the challenges of the rally, fostering friendship and fun along the way.
Join us for the Rebelle Trials, a one-day rally stage opportunity that concludes our Rebelle U 2-day navigation training. Set against breathtaking landscapes, this event incorporates traditional Rebelle challenges, including map and compass navigation and timed endurance tasks. It’s the perfect complement to the 2-day intensive training, and a great way to prepare for the Rebelle whether you’re signed up for this year or have your sights set on the rally in the future. Training is open to both registered and non-registered competitors and is a unique adventure all its own!
Preparation is crucial for the Rebelle Rally, which is why American-made Bubba Rope is a must-have in every competitor’s gear. Ideal for both the rally stages and backcountry adventures, Bubba Rope offers various break strengths and lengths to meet any challenge. The Gator-Jaw soft shackle is especially popular, made from Plasma® rope, the strongest synthetic rope available. This top-notch tow rope connector beats traditional steel shackles for both strength and flexibility. A trusted supplier for the Rebelle Rally, Bubba Rope’s military-grade tech, Power Stretch Ropes, and Gator-Jaw® shackles consistently deliver when it counts!
