As we prepare for the ninth edition of the Rebelle Rally, we are excited to announce that Iridium Communications will return for the fifth consecutive year as our trusted Safety and Communications Partner. Their continued commitment to the Rebelle Rally has been instrumental in ensuring the safety and success of our event, especially as we venture into the most remote corners of the American West.
In addition to communications and tracking, the Rebelle Rally has developed an innovative, integrated scoring system that sends data to the online, automated pages, eliminating human error and hours of delayed scoring updates, utilizing Iridium-enabled devices.
Operating in desolate landscapes where cell service is nonexistent, Iridium’s satellite network stands as the backbone of our communication infrastructure. With the only truly global satellite network, Iridium guarantees that our staff and competitors stay connected no matter how far off the grid we go. This global reach is what sets Iridium apart, making them an essential partner for the Rebelle Rally.
Emily Miller, founder of the Rebelle Rally, remarked, “Iridium, technology, service and connected devices are absolutely critical to our event. Their technology and satellite network are not just a convenience; it’s a lifeline, especially in the backcountry where staying connected is a matter of efficiency but also of safety. We trust Iridium to keep our teams safe and connected, and our competition fair, which allows us to focus on delivering a world-class rally experience.”
“Iridium and their partner devices have allowed us to automate one of the most complex competition formats and eliminate mistakes,” noted Chrissie Beavis, the rally’s Competition and Scoring Director.
The Rebelle Rally spans over 2,500 kilometers of challenging terrain, and our reliance on Iridium’s technology is as strong as ever. Here’s how Iridium supports the rally:
Throughout the year, Rebelle founder Emily Miller, Course Director Jimmy Lewis and course staff don’t leave connectivity without an Iridium-connected device with tracking and SOS capability – from Roadpost’s Zoleo to the Garmin InReach, both reliant on Iridium service.
“With the technology and user-friendly devices available today, no one should adventure in the backcountry without an Iridium-connected device with tracking, SOS functions and long battery life. A phone is not an on par substitute,” noted Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Famer and Rebelle Course Director, Jimmy Lewis.
