10TH RALLY EDITION: OCTOBER 8 – 18, 2025

Team Tuesday: Liza & Sue

Canada is here to represent – in the form of none other than returning Team #144 CanToy Divas – Liza Tough and Sue Chapin!

First order of business to relay – this is one determined duo. The only international team to compete in the year that was 2020, last year they shipped their Tacoma from BC to Washington state, made the trek to the Rebelle from there, got any and all paperwork needed for travel in time to compete, fundraised the heck out of everything including winning a Rebelle scholarship, and made their way to the start line amongst the 35 other teams. And won the 2020 International Cup. Current plans? Doing it all over again! Catch up with the team below including plans for the next generation of Rebelles!

Hometown/Current town:

Liza: Nanaimo, BC/West Kelowna, BC
Sue: Penticton, BC/Peachland, BC

Favorite Food:

Liza: Mexican food
Sue: Lobster

Something only your best friend knows about you:

Liza: My close friends know that during the Rebelle Rally last year my granddaughter was born on October 9 at 11:12 a.m. and I plan to compete with her on her 18th birthday.
Sue: Have been singing, in one form or another, for over 50 years.

Favorite place ever:

Liza: Tulum, Mexico
Sue: Ireland

Why did you pick the vehicle you’re competing in?

Liza: That’s easy. Caliente (2017 Tacoma) is my baby and she goes wherever I want her to go and she’s never let me down.
Sue: Simple. It’s Liza’s everyday ride and she’ll go anywhere we want her to go.

Why the Rebelle?

Liza: I love that there is a challenging off road competition out there for women only. I will admit after meeting Emily Miller, Amy Hopkins and Kendra Miller at the BC Overland Rally I was hooked and knew I would compete some day.
Sue: It’s all Liza’s fault. She met Emily & some OG Rebelles in 2017 and considered the experience. After getting her Tacoma she had her sights on entering. She mentioned at a rehearsal (local barbershop group) that she really wanted to enter, but needed a navigator. Then I opened my mouth and here we are heading to our second Rebelle. 2020 was a real eye-opening experience and our heads were swimming when we got back. 2021 will be different and we’re excited to join up with some of the amazing ladies that we met last year.  #TribeRebelle Forever.

Any shout-outs you’d like to make while you have our attention?

Liza: To my Family and to our fantastic sponsors: Protec Petroleum Services, Cascadia Vehicle Tents, Freedom Recover Gear, Arc One Industries, Four Wheel Drive Association of BC, Vivid Lumen Industries, Mighty Owl Mapping, Inspiration2Creation, Adventure Trucks Inc, Silver Stratus Global, Kelowna Toyota.
Sue: To Liza – for this incredible “wild ride” that she’s brought me on.
